Primary Teachers

Lorri Judson

Lead Primary Teacher, Primary AMI Trained

I became a teacher because of a deep appreciation and respect for the child. Through Dr. Montessori's teachings I am able to provide the environment and guidance that cultivates the child's independence and desire for a lifetime of learning.

My inspiration for teaching was my mother. Encouraging independence in me, she taught me all the way through high school. Growing up I loved the idea of teaching and understanding the influence a teacher has on the student, made me passionate. Montessori was the perfect fit for me. I love to see children's independence flourish before my eyes.

I treasure the natural learning process that occurs in the Montessori classroom. I love watching children learning through their own experiences and interests. I love to share my other interests of gardening, hiking, and visiting National Parks with the children. I have even been known to teach a little golf... but know now to duck while the children are swinging those clubs.

Morning Primary Assistant (Ms. Rhonda's)

I have been an assistant in Ms. Rhonda's room since 2013. Although I am a native of California, I am now a confirmed Georgian thanks to my husband, 2 children, and my extended CASA family. My most difficult challenge in the classroom is to not laugh too loudly when I witness daily children revealing their humorous and sometimes ingenious ways of working with each other and with the materials. I have been called a neat freak, and no matter how much I clean a room, there always seems to be one piece of paper or golden bead that shows up on my floor!

I have been working with kids many years and they bring me much joy! I am so excited to be in the Montessori field now and am always re-defining how to make after-school at CASA a fun and rewarding experience.

Dr. Montessori said, "You must find the work that satisfies your spirit." This work renews my spirit daily and I am honored to guide the children as they grow. It's amazing to see the world through the eyes of a primary child as he or she excitedly discovers the carefully prepared primary environment. I find the Montessori Method to continually meet the child where he is and help him to soar.

Favorite Quote: "...if we ponder the influence that education can have on the attainment of world peace, it becomes clear that we must make the child and his education our primary concern. We have realized that education can have an enormous influence on humanity." - Maria Montessori

Morning Primary Assistant (Ms. Claire's)

As a parent and a scientist by training, I have developed a passion and personal commitment to continuous learning and understanding of neuroscience with regard to early childhood development. This began when my triplets were prematurely born in 2004 and led us to Montessori as soon as they were able to enter a Primary classroom. Watching the children in such a beautifully prepared environment with a guide fully committed to following the child solidified my belief and commitment in Montessori for all children and I began working as a Primary Assistant in 2010. Our family grew again in 2011 and I am now returning to the classroom after being home with my children since her birth. I am committed to the support of CASA's mission "to motivate its students from within by a natural curiosity and love for knowledge" and cultivating "his/her own natural desire to learn."

The development towards independence and self-actualization is quite a journey for every child. The opportunity to play a role in that, as a guide in an environment with such a fabulously beautiful concept such as Montessori, is truly a pleasure.

Favorite Quote: "This is the true perspective in which we must see the child. This is his importance. He makes everything possible. On his work stands civilization. This is why we must offer the child the help he needs, and be at his service so that he does not have to walk alone." - Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

Traci Coleman

Primary Assistant (Ms. Stacy's)

As far back as I can remember, Montessori has been a big part of my life. I was seven years old when my mother became employed at a Montessori School, and in my pre-teen years she became a certified Montessori teacher. When I became an adult and had children I became intrigued with Maria Montessori and her work. I wanted to be a part of and see the reality of it all. The making of a teacher was in progress.

I enjoy teaching children because wonder surrounds them. By design, they are natural leaders that I enjoy following. Like them, my appetite for knowledge is immense. For me to be able to fill that canvas of such ones is a blessing.
